Standby

I can be susceptible.
I believe you when you say,

I’ll call, listen
for the phone to ring,

check to see if it works,
and it does, but you don’t.

You might find this hard
to believe, but I don’t want

nothin’. No money, no honey,
no babies, no crazies.

I’m done. Put a fork in it.

  1. Short, sweet, intense and to the point! When I was younger and single, I could totally relate! Thankfully, I’m happily married for almost 23 years…but this is very true to life! Great writing!
