if my life was a sitcom

Oh, to be Samantha
in Bewitched or Jeannie
in I Dream of Jeannie,

Staring for hours,
autographed pictures
on my bedroom wall,

dreaming of a different
place with no compulsion
or obsession, only

once upon a time
and happily ever after.
Ten thousand yesterdays

ago, I left. Took the tiger
by the tail, never let it go.
